If you've "received spam from greenhead.com"...

Thank you for you patronage. Greenhead Computer Consulting is currently on hiatus. We continue to design web pages and do other design work, but our days of "working the bugs out" have passed.

If you've "received spam from greenhead.com"...

... please be advised that greenhead.com is currently the victim of a "
Joe Job" attack: some spam company is sending out spam and illegally using greenhead.com in the return address. If you check the headers carefully (or show them to your local mail guru), you'll see that the spam actually came from someplace else. If a web site is advertised in the body of the message, it isn't greenhead.com.

What is a “Joe Job”?

A “Joe Job” is typically defined as “a spam run forged to appear as though it came from an innocent party, who is then generally flooded by the bounces.” In other words, some spammer gets the domain name (and typically IP address) of an innocent third party’s website and then sends spam to thousands or millions of people, disguising the message so that it looks like it came from the third party. As a result, the recipient (Victim #1) receives an unsolicited spam, and the party whose domain name was forged onto the message (Victim #2) is blamed for sending the spam, which he had nothing to do with. As a result, Victim #2 has his email flooded with bounced emails (sometimes completely shutting down his email server), gets blacklisted by anti-spam companies that assume he really is a spammer, and has his reputation tarnished by those who do not realize that he, too, is a victim. (For a more detailed explanation visit Steve’s Joe Job Page.)
In fact, if you investigate this spam in more detail, you'll probably find that the IP address that the spam came from doesn't belong to the spammer either: it belongs to some average joe whose machine got used by the spammer.

We do not send spam messages; in fact, we don't sell products of any kind. This is a personal web site.

The bottom line is this: we don't spam. We don't condone spam. You didn't get spam from us.

Don't buy products from spammers, ever!

Please don't email us about this. We're getting hundreds of "undeliverable" messages a day about this. Thanks!
